Softball Splits with Holy Family as the End of Regular Season Looms

LITTLE FERRY, N.J. - Felician Softball (18-26 / 12-8 CACC) hosted Holy Family University for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader at Shannon Dalton Forde Field Sunday afternoon.

The Golden falcons posted 11 hits for 11 runs in the game one victory through six innings, while the Tigers were able to hold off the green-and-gold's offensive pressure for the 0-1 loss.

GAME ONE:11-3 WIN
Here's What Happened:
  • After a 2 run bottom half of the first for the Golden Falcons, the Tigers jumped out in front with their three runs of the first game to edge the host 2-3.
  • In the third inning, Felician was able to rob the score back in their favor with two runs from at bats by Katie Steinmetz (Chula Vista, C.A.) and Victorie Leon (Sylmar, C.A.), 4-2. With two more runs in the fourth and ultimately five in the bottom six, the Golden Falcons put away the first contest early with the 11-3 victory.
Box Score Insights:
  • Four Golden Falcons recorded a double in the day with Steinmetz jamming two and Daisha Howard (Westbury, C.T.), Mikayla Brown (Las Vegas, N.V), and Leon had one.
  • Steinmetz went 3-4 with three RBI while Brown, Mia Martinez (Bronx, N.Y.), and Lacey Camden (Corona, C.A.) went 1-3. Martinez and Camden ended game one with two RBI each.
  • Riley Williams (Corona, C.A.) pitched 6.0 innings for the win and struck out four.
GAME TWO: 0-1 LOSS
Here's What Happened:
  • The Tigers jumped out in front first with a quick run in the top half of the first... but this would be the lone run game two would feature as the Golden Falcons would drop for the series split with the opposers, 0-1.
  • Alexis Velotta (Menifee, C.A.) recorded the lone hit of the contest for the green-and-gold in the bottom of the fourth.
Box Score Insights:
  • Velotta went 1-2 in the final game of the series while Williams posted the loss with three strike outs.
