BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - #5 Felician University Softball traveled to #4 Bloomfield College for the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Playoffs Saturday afternoon at Clark's Pond Field.
The Golden Falcons needed to secure a doubleheader sweep of the Bears in order to advance to the next round, however, they dropped in game one, 2-6 to halt their postseason play.
Here's What Happened:
- The Bears weren't shy at the plate to open up the afternoon when they rallied four runs in the bottom half of the first to lead the Golden Falcons.
- By the end of the fourth inning, the hosts put up two more for the 0-6 lead.
- Hannah Ramirez (Carson, C.A.) gave the green-and-gold life in the sixth with a leadoff single and Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) put the ball over the left field fence to put the squad on the board, 2-6.
- With two outs in the final frame for the Golden Falcons, Layla Albarran (Whittier, C.A.) put herself on the basepaths in hopes to be sent home for another Felician run… however, the third out was recorded to have the Bears advance.
Box score Insights:
- O'Reilly led the charge going 2-3 with two RBI while Ramirez, Daisha Howard (Westbury, N.Y.), and Kathryn Steinmetz (Chula Vista, C.A.) went 1-3.
- Howard posted a double along with freshman, Sadie Kittoe (Winchester, V.A.).
- Williams ended the day pitching 6.0 innings and struck out four Bears' batters.
Felician Softball ended their 2024 season with an overall record of 19-30 and a CACC record of 13-9.
