Mens Soccer Hands St Thomas Aquinas Their First Loss, Beating Them 2-1

Rutherford NJ - Felician's Men's Soccer went up against undefeated Saint Thomas Aquinas this Saturday afternoon. Coming into this contest with a 4-0 record, Felician would hand them their first loss on the season 2-1, putting the Golden Falcons back in the win column. Here's a breakdown of what occurred. 

The first half was all about pushing the ball for both teams offensively. The Golden Falcons made constant impressive defensive stops within the first 15 minutes, coming from Manuel Otero, Erick Vargas, and Alex Ramos. However, Saint Thomas would sneak one right by the defense scoring the first goal of this contest. Turning it right around, Manuel Otero scores just 2 minutes after that goal off of a free kick to bring the score to 1-1. There would be more defensive plays occurring this first half, with Alvaro Martin Castedo making a numerous stops and making the right calls as the captain. Felician wouldn't stop offensively, as another goal was scored by the Golden Falcons, this time by Hugo Rodriguez with an assist coming from Alex Ramos. This would bring them to a 2-1 lead going into the half. The Golden Falcons wouldn't stop defensively during the second half either with Alvaro Martin Castedo making even more plays on the back line to make sure the opposing team didn't score anymore. Offensively, the Golden Falcons kept attempting to add onto their lead with chances coming from Ayato Kaneto and Alex Ramos, but no score was made. In the end, the Golden Falcons would hold onto the lead securing the victory within this contest 2-1 to put them back in the win column. 

Golden Falcons Player of the Game - The Golden Falcons Player of the Game goes to #4 Alvaro Martin Castedo, he made numerous stops along the defensive line and helped secure this victory today.

The Golden Falcons get a few days to recoup as their next contest is this Tuesday, September 24th at home against Caldwell under the lights at 7 PM, where they will be showing their appreciation to New Jersey's High Schools. This will be their first conference match up with the plan to enter this match securing their first conference victory this season.
