Felician Falls as Lightning Strike Late in 78-66 Defeat

Rutherford, NJ – January 18, 2025 – Despite strong individual performances from Stephanie Formby and Ane Valle, the Felician University women's basketball team fell short in a 78-66 loss to Goldey-Beacom College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.

The game was tightly contested through the first three quarters, with both teams trading leads and Felician trailing by just five points heading into the final period. However, Goldey-Beacom capitalized on a dominant fourth quarter, outscoring the Golden Falcons 28-21 to secure the win.

Stephanie Formby led Felician with a stellar double-double, scoring a game-high 31 points on 12-of-22 shooting and pulling down 10 rebounds while hitting 7-of-8 free throws. Ane Valle added her own double-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists, showcasing her all-around play. Katherine Ritchie also contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Falcons. For Goldey-Beacom, Katie Yoder paced the offense with 18 points, nine rebounds, and three assists, while Rory Ciszkowski chipped in 17 points, including three three-pointers.

Felician controlled the paint with 46 points and outrebounded Goldey-Beacom 41-30. However, the Golden Falcons struggled from three-point range, going 0-for-8, while the Lightning connected on 11-of-26 attempts from deep. The fourth quarter proved decisive, as Goldey-Beacom shot an efficient 62.5% from the field to pull away.

The loss drops Felician to 6-12 overall and 1-5 in conference play. Goldey-Beacom improves to 6-12 overall and 3-3 in the CACC.

Felician looks to bounce back on Wednesday, January 22nd, when they host Bloomfield College at 5:30 PM in Job Gymnasium.
