Bloomfield Tops Felician 78-68 in CACC Matchup

RUTHERFORD, NJ – The Felician University Golden Falcons fell to the Bloomfield College Bears 78-68 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) clash Wednesday night at Job Gymnasium. The hard-fought game featured seven lead changes and two ties, with Bloomfield ultimately pulling away in the second half.

Felician (6-12, 1-5 CACC) came out strong in the first quarter, leading 20-12 behind a hot start from senior Stephanie Formby, who posted a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Fellow senior Ane Valle also recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Katherine Ritchie contributed 16 points and 5 rebounds.

The Bears (4-12, 1-6 CACC) were powered by Bianca Ellis, who had a game-high 22 points, shooting 6-of-14 from three-point range. Taneshia Tucker added 17 points and 8 rebounds, while Mia Martinez chipped in with 10 points and 6 assists.

Felician controlled the paint, outscoring Bloomfield 42-24 down low, but the Bears' perimeter shooting proved decisive. Bloomfield connected on 11 three-pointers, compared to just 2 for Felician. Free throw shooting also played a role, as the Golden Falcons struggled from the stripe, converting only 47.6% of their attempts (10-of-21).

Felician's early momentum carried them to a 43-36 halftime lead, but Bloomfield surged in the third quarter, outscoring the Golden Falcons 21-13. A strong fourth quarter sealed the win for the Bears, who shot an impressive 81.0% from the free throw line.

The Golden Falcons will look to bounce back on Saturday, January 25, when they travel to Holy Family University. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
