New York, N.Y. – The Felician University Golden Falcons Track & Field team brought their A-game this past weekend at the Dr. Sander Invitational, held at the historic Armory in New York City. Over two days of intense competition, the team shattered records, climbed NCAA Division II rankings, and showcased their talent against top-notch programs.
Men's Team Highlights
Shane Connell led the way for the men's squad, putting in a strong performance in the high jump. Connell cleared 1.96m, earning him a solid 12th-place finish in a packed field of competitors. At the Ramapo Season Opener, Alberto Liste turned heads with an 8th-place finish in the 60m hurdles, crossing the line in 8.88 seconds.
Women's Team Steals the Spotlight
The women's team delivered across the board. Chantoya Thomas ran a lightning-fast 58.52 in the 400m, earning her a spot in the NCAA Division II top 100 for the event. Joining her in the top 100 were senior Catherine Catipay, who clocked 2:21.94 in the 800m, and high jumpers Jada Carroll and Aarysa Moore, each clearing 1.60m.
Freshman standout Chimeremya Odoh broke her own school record in the 60m dash, running a blazing 7.98 seconds to dip under the 8-second mark for the first time. Her performance landed her 13th in her division.
Record-Breaking Relay
The women's 4x400m relay team—Darrian Lewis, Mia Martinez, Imani Fitzpatrick, and Chantoya Thomas—delivered one of the meet's standout performances. They smashed the school record by over three seconds, finishing 5th in a highly competitive race with a time of 3:56.82. The squad's incredible effort now ranks them #33 in NCAA Division II.
Going up against major programs like Wisconsin, Temple, and Maryland, the Golden Falcons proved they belong on the big stage.

The Golden Falcons are back on the track next Friday, February 1, when they head to Virginia Beach for the Marlin Invitational.
