Bridgeport, Conn. – The Felician University women's basketball team picked up a big road win Tuesday night, defeating the University of Bridgeport 65-54 at Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium. The Golden Falcons set the tone early, jumping out to a 21-13 first-quarter lead and never looking back.
Freshman center Stephanie Formby was a force in the paint, leading all scorers with 19 points and 8 rebounds while shooting an impressive 6-for-9 from the field. Sophomore sharpshooter Erica Egan gave Felician a huge boost off the bench, draining five three-pointers on her way to a 15-point night.
Felician (65 points) controlled most of the game, but Bridgeport made a push in the third quarter, cutting into the Golden Falcons' lead. However, Felician responded in the fourth, outscoring the Purple Knights 18-13 down the stretch to seal the win.
Sophomore Ane Valle added 13 points and 5 assists, helping keep the offense steady, while Noella Biduaya chipped in 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Felician shot a solid 50% from the field, outrebounded Bridgeport 30-25, and capitalized on turnovers to maintain control.
Bridgeport was led by Shakira Hester's 16 points and 7 rebounds, but the Golden Falcons' defense kept the Purple Knights in check, holding them to just 31.3% from three and forcing 16 turnovers.
