Rutherford, N.J. – Jhonny Tovar delivered a standout performance with a triple-double as the Felician University men's basketball team cruised to a commanding 104-72 victory over Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday evening at the Joal & Joseph Job Gymnasium. Tovar's 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists highlighted a dominant team effort that improved Felician's record to 8-5 (1-2 CACC) while dropping the Redhawks to 5-9 (2-2 ECC).
From the outset, the Golden Falcons played with intensity and efficiency, building a 50-33 halftime lead through a relentless offensive attack and suffocating defense. Felician shot a sizzling 57.5% from the field for the game, keeping Roberts Wesleyan on their heels throughout.
Tovar wasn't the only Golden Falcon to shine. Jabri Fitzpatrick posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Marcus Pierce added 17 points and seven assists, orchestrating the offense with precision. Jared White and Donovan Long provided critical sparks off the bench, contributing 14 points apiece to the team's scoring barrage.
Despite a 21-point effort from Malik Brooks and 18 points from Jermaine Taggart II, Roberts Wesleyan struggled to find its rhythm, particularly from beyond the arc. The Redhawks connected on just 4-of-27 three-point attempts, a dismal 14.8%, while Felician's defense kept their fast-break opportunities in check.
Felician's depth and balanced attack proved decisive, with the bench contributing 41 points. The Golden Falcons also controlled the paint, outscoring the Redhawks 56-48 inside and converting 10 turnovers into 21 points.
The win gives Felician plenty of momentum heading into Saturday's matchup against Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Tip-off is set for 4:00 PM as the Golden Falcons look to continue their winning streak.
