Sparks, Md.: The women's lacrosse team kicked off their season with a 13-9 win over the University of the District of Columbia at Tierney Field on Saturday.

The Golden Falcons wasted no time setting the pace, scoring five goals in the opening quarter while holding the Firebirds scoreless. Felician's offense was led by Kathleen Lopez, who netted three goals, including two in the final minute of play. Mary Gazaleh and Eva Moreland each added two goals and an assist, while Alyssa Tropeano added a pair of goals. 

UDC cut Felician's lead in the second quarter with three unanswered goals. UDC applied pressure in the third quarter, within one goal, but Felician responded with a strong performance to secure the win. 

Jessica Naoum made five saves. The Golden Falcons dominated in ground balls, collecting 35 and outshot their opponent 47-17.
