Turnersville, N.J. - The women's bowling team placed fifth at the Wildcat DII-DIII Invite with an overall 8-4 record. The team bounced back after a tough traditional start, finding rhythm in the baker system format.
Felician took two early losses on Friday to Dominican and Adelphi before outlasting Newman, 933-923. The Golden Falcons soon defeated Daemen before ending the traditional series with a loss to Emmanuel. The team saw a strong Saturday with an undefeated record in the baker total pinfall system. Felician took down Adelphi, Holy Family, Wilmington, and Kutztown to end the day with four key wins. In the Sunday match play bracket, the Golden Falcons opened with a commanding 4-0 win over Adelphi. Felician then fell in a tight 4-3 battle to Dominican. The Golden Falcons ended the tournament in fifth place with a win over Daemen, 4-2.
Grace LeFurge led the individual standings for the team in 10th place. LeFurge averaged a 192.80 through five games, highlighted by a 231 in the win versus Newman.
Mackenzie Keane followed behind in 18th place, averaging 184.20. Keane bowled a game-high 237.
Natalia Velasco Tovar and
Vivian Luna rounded out the team finishing in 24th and 25th place, respectively.
The team will host the second conference event on February 28 at Parkway Lanes in Elmwood Park.Â
