Jack Fowler, one of the most successful pitchers in Felician history, returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach for the 2020 season. He re-joined the Golden Falcons after one season on the staff at Ramapo College.
Fowler has served as both head coach and a pitching coach in the Langan Baseball organization, run by Golden Falcon assistant coach Steve Langan, since 2015. He was Ramapo's pitching coach in 2019, with his rotation including New Jersey Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year Kevin Stewart.
After pitching for Felician from 2012-15, the left-handed Fowler embarked upon an independent professional career, playing for five teams in four leagues over four seasons. At his last stop, a second stint with the Gary Southshore Railcats of the American Association in 2018, he led the team with 33 appearances. Fowler logged more than 150 innings as a pro, posting a combined 4-6 record with two saves.
Fowler began his Felician career as a reliever before transitioning to the starting rotation for his final two years. He was a two-time Second-Team All-CACC selection, once in each role. During his junior season of 2014, he was 10-2 with a 2.10 earned-run average, a .230 opponent batting average, and 78 strikeouts. His 85 2/3 innings were a single-season school record (since broken), and he remains the only Golden Falcon to ever win 10 games in a season. He helped lead the Golden Falcons to their first CACC Championship that year, winning two games in the conference tournament, then threw a six-hit shutout against host Franklin Pierce University in an elimination game of the NCAA East Regional for the program's first-ever NCAA victory. Fowler was named the 2014 NJCBA Division II/III Pitcher of the Year.
Fowler was the first Golden Falcon to play in the Cape Cod Baseball League. He was added to the roster of the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the late summer of 2014 just in time for the Red Sox' league championship run.
Fowler completed his collegiate career with a 19-15 record, a 2.91 ERA, and 243 strikeouts in 244 1/3 innings. He is second only to former teammate John Holland (22) on the school's all-time wins list and third in career strikeouts. As a sophomore he set the single-season Felician record for apperarances with 32.
Fowler, a graduate of Red Bank Regional High School, completed a B.S. degree in criminal justice from Felician in 2016. He resides in Shrewsbury.
