Angie Nieves


Angie Nieves returned for her second stint as a Felician softball assistant when she joined Herb Melendez's staff in September 2019. Nieves had served as a volunteer assistant for the Golden Falcons under Alexis Durando in the spring of 2018. In between, she was the head coach of Marymount High School in New York, N.Y.

Nieves has previous college coaching experience as an assistant at Manhattanville College in 2017. She has also worked with several New Jersey travel programs, most recently the N.J. Pride.

After beginning her collegiate playing career at Iona College, Nieves collected 107 hits in three years as the third baseman at Fairleigh Dickinson University. While attending FDU, she played for the national team of Puerto Rico at the ISF World Championship. 

A native of Union City, Nieves was an all-Hudson County selection for High Tech High. Playing for Union City High as a senior, she was named the 2011 Hudson Reporter Player of the Year.

Nieves is an assistant director of athletics and teacher of health and physical education at Cathedral High in New York City. She resides in Jersey City.
