Howell comes to Felician from Army West Point. During his time with the Black Knights, he led freshman goalkeeper Sage Strohman to 15 starts, including a Patriot League rookie record GAA at home. Prior to Army, Howell was at the University of San Francisco. During his time with the Dons, he led senior Olivia Camera to her first All-Conference honor, as the keeper received an honorable mention selection. Under Howell's guidance, Camera finished the year with a career-best 10 wins and racked up 98 saves, the 34th-most in the nation. She tallied five-or-more stops in nine appearances and finished her career second in program history with 276 total.
Howell's experience in collegiate soccer has also been boosted by a pair of volunteer assistant positions at George Washington University (2010-11) and the University of Kansas (2011-12). During his stint in Lawrence, the Jayhawks received an at-large bid to the 2011 NCAA Tournament.Â
At four different Division 1 programs, Howell has coached goalkeepers selected to the All-Freshman, All-Academic, and All-Conference teams.
Currently at the club level, Howell is the USL W League Metro Champion Goalkeeper Coach and Director of Goalkeeping at Morris Elite Soccer Club. Prior to MESC, he was the 07 Girls Academy Head Coach, 04 NPL Head Coach and Director of Goalkeeping at San Francisco Elite Academy.
Howell played collegiate soccer at Drake University, lettering in the 2004-06 seasons. Prior to his time as a Bulldog, he was a part of the Generation Adidas Elite Soccer Program from 2001-02 and competed with the top 15 goalkeepers in the country.
After wrapping up his collegiate career, Howell had professional trial opportunities with the Minnesota Thunder, Charleston Battery and Jönköpings Södra in Sweden’s top flight.
Howell is currently in process with this USSF B License and holds the Advanced National, Game Model, Counter Attacking, Counter Pressing Diplomas from United Soccer Coaches. In addition, he holds a Goalkeeper Diploma from Canada Soccer.
