Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University shot 54 percent from the floor, including 59 percent in the second half, in its 100-62 non-conference men's basketball victory over visiting Felician College before 334 fans on Friday night at the Dana Center. The game was the 2011-12 season-opener for both schools, and was played during Day 1 of the Bentley Tip-Off Classic.
Felician junior guard Anthony D. Green (Jersey City, NJ) (6-11 FG, 4-4 FT) came off the bench to tie for game-high honors with 17 points. However, Antoine Obery (Roselle, NJ) was the only other Golden Falcon in double figures with 11.
Felician, which never led, fell behind 11-2 after six minutes and 26-8 after 10. The Golden Falcons played even with Bentley for the rest of the period to trail, 44-26, at halftime, but the hosts began the second half with a 14-5 spurt to lead by 27. Later in the half, a 23-4 Bentley run put the Falcons ahead, 94-47 with 5:55 to play.
Bentley took advantage of Felician's miscues, scoring 35 points off of 21 Golden Falcon turnovers. The hosts also outscored Felician, 12-4, on three-point field goals, out-shooting the visitors 43-20 percent from long range. Bentley put six scorers in double figures, led by 17 points and five rebounds from junior Dan O'Keefe (Lexington, MA).
The game marked the first all-time meeting between the teams. Bentley received votes in the Division II national preseason coaches poll. Felician gave up 100 or more points for the first time since Jan. 26, 2008, to Holy Family University.
Felician concludes play in the tournament with a 6 p.m. match-up against Merrimack College on Saturday.
