Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College women's volleyball team completed its 2012 season with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-16) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to visiting Philadelphia University on its Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.
Felician's lone senior, Jenna Matesic (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) led the hosts with seven kills and eight digs in her final collegiate match. Golden Falcon freshman opposite Olivia Emerson (Sparks, Nev./TMCC) also put down seven kills.
Philadelphia (20-8, 14-5 CACC) posted a team attack percentage of .333 for the match, and held the Golden Falcons to an .024 mark. Lady Ram freshman middle Chelsea Hughes (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) came off the bench to hit .700 with a team-high eight kills and three blocks.
The Lady Rams got off to an 18-9 lead in their opening set win, hitting .440 for the set. The second set was tight early, with Philadelphia ahead 12-10 before claiming 13 of the final 17 points. The visitors hit .429 without an attack error in Set 2.
Set 3 was tied on nine occasions, the final time at 12-12 before the Lady Rams ran off a 11-2 run for a nine-point edge. A Philadelphia service error and a kill by Tonia Ford (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) kept Felician alive, but Lady Ram senior Ellie Edgar (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Falls) finished things off with her third kill of the day.
Matesic, Felician's all-time kills leader with 891, was honored in pre-match Senior Day ceremonies conducted by her teammate and first cousin, junior middle Alexa Scrivanich (Paramus, N.J./Paramus). The Golden Falcons finish 1-24 overall and 1-18 in CACC play.
