Men's Basketball Rides Fast Break To 85-76 Victory Over Bloomfield

Box Score

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Senior guard Anthony D. Green (Jersey City, N.J./Snyder) came off the bench to score a game-high 22 points, including a go-ahead three-point field goal midway through the second half, to lead Felician College to an 85-76 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball victory over visiting Bloomfield College on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium. More than one-third of Felician's 34 field goals came in transition.

Felician senior swingman Antoine Obery (Roselle, N.J./Abraham Clark) recorded his fourth consecutive double-double. Obery shot 6 for 9 from the floor and scored 14 points. Meanwhile, his totals of 17 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals were all season bests.

Green also enjoyed a stellar shooting day, making 8 of 10 from the floor, including all four of his three-point attempts. After Bloomfield junior forward Mike Williams (Ewing, N.J./Trenton Catholic) tied the game for the 10th time, 56-56, with a bucket at the 10:07 mark, Green put the Golden Falcons ahead for good with a trifecta on his team's next possession.

The shot touched off a game-changing 15-4 run for Felician, which Green capped with another trey to put the hosts up, 71-60, with 7:10 left in regulation. Still trailing by six with the ball with just over three minutes to play, the Deacons went cold, missing on four field goals and two free throws with a chance to get closer. Bloomfield did pull within a 79-74 deficit in the closing minutes, but Golden Falcon junior Anthony Obery (Roselle, N.J./Abraham Clark) made 3 of 4 at the foul line to secure the victory.

Felician sophomore forward J.R. Pringley (Elizabeth, N.J./Linden) put forth a breakout performance with a career-high 19 points. Averaging 4.3 points per game this season entering Saturday, Pringley made 8 of 14 shot attempts and added four rebounds and two assists in 33 minutes. Teammate Ayotunde Oyeniyi (Lagos, Nigeria/Rock School [Fla.]) posted 11 points, seven rebounds and three blocks, and freshman guard Jamal Reid (Newark, N.J./East Side) added six points and seven assists for the Golden Falcons (6-9, 4-4 CACC).

Marvin Williams (Jersey City, N.J./Marist) scored 18 points and Matt Hall (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Ford) had 14 for Bloomfield (8-8, 6-2). Felician, which survived a 44-percent performance at the foul line (11-25), outscored the Deacons, 24-6, in fast-break points.

Felician led by as many as eight points in the opening period before settling for a 39-37 halftime advantage. Bloomfield took its largest lead, 50-43, with 13:25 to play in the game.
