Box Score CALDWELL, N.J. – The Felician College men's basketball team yielded 55 second-half points in its 91-77 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to host Caldwell College on Wednesday night at the George R. Newman Center. Freshman guard Tim Massado (Wilmington, Del.) scored 23 points in 25 minutes off the bench for Felician (2-4, 1-1 CACC).
Caldwell (4-1, 1-0) opened up a 26-19 lead after 15 minutes of action. But the Golden Falcons fought back for a 36-36 halftime tie. With their team trailing 42-39, Felician's Jamal Reid (Newark, N.J.) and J.R. Pringley (Elizabeth, N.J.) canned back-to-back three-point field goals to give the visitors their first lead of the night with 15 minutes, 54 seconds, to play.
The Cougars then embarked on a 21-4 run over the next 9 ½ minutes of game action. Sophomore forward Billy McDonald (North Haven, Conn.) tallied eight points in what proved to be the game's decisive run. Trailing, 63-49, with 6:21 to play, Felician never reduced its deficit back to single digits. The Golden Falcons cut a 20-point bulge at 2:55 to 10 at the 0:50 mark, but were whistled for an intentional foul on the ensuing possession that secured the Caldwell victory.
Caldwell, which has won four consecutive games, placed all five starters in double figures in scoring. McDonald (6-8 FG, 10-11 FT) led the way with a career-high 23 points, while Michael Balkovic (7-10 FG, 4-4 FT) produced 18 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. The Cougars shot 56 percent from the field in the second half (52 percent for the night), and outscored Felician, 33-11, at the foul line.
Massado drained a season-high five three-pointers. Felician senior guard Anthony Obery (Roselle, N.J.) netted 14 points in 15 minutes before fouling out, and backcourt-mate Reid totaled 11 points and five assists.
The Golden Falcons were able to cause only 10 Caldwell turnovers on the night.
