Men's Baskeball Is Ousted In CACC Quarters

Box Score

PHILADELPHIA – South No. 1 seed Holy Family University used a 30-10 run in the middle stages of the second period to erase a 14-point deficit and key a 77-70 victory over visiting Felician College in the quarterfinal round of the 2013 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center.

Felician, the No. 4 seed from the CACC North Division, completes its season with an overall won-lost record of 12-15. The Golden Falcons were making their fourth conference playoff appearance in the last five years.

Senior swingman Antoine Obery (Roselle, N.J.) led Felician with 19 points and eight rebounds. Obery completes his career as the Golden Falcons' all-time leading rebounder with 848. Classmate Anthony D. Green (Jersey City, N.J.) posted 18 points. Holy Family junior Ervin Ezell (Deptford, N.J.) topped all players with 21 points and nine assists.

After taking a 29-25 halftime lead, Felician outscored the Tigers, 12-2, in the first 4 ½ minutes of the second half. HFU (18-9) then reversed course, turning its 41-27 deficit into a 57-51 advantage with 7:09 to play. A three-point field goal at the 8:19 mark by Alberto Munoz (Morrisville, N.C.) put Holy Family ahead for good.

HFU assumed its largest lead of the day, 69-59, with just 2:19 remaining. However, the Golden Falcons made one final charge, pulling to within 72-67 with the ball at 0:40 when sophomore J.R. Pringley (Elizabeth, N.J.) was fouled attempting a three-point shot. But Pringley missed his first two attempts, then committed a lane violation on the third, and Ezell made 3 of 4 at the other end to seal the victory.

Pringley scored 12 points for Felician, while Angel Ayala (Allentown, Pa.) came off the bench for Holy Family to record 18 points and seven rebounds.
