Box Score WATERBURY, Conn. – Felician College could muster just 13 points in the first 14 minutes of an eventual 81-60 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball loss to host Post University on Wednesday night at the Drubner Center.
Junior forward J.R. Pringley (Elizabeth, N.J.) led Felician with 17 points. The Eagles picked up their third consecutive victory on the strength of a 19-point, seven-rebound, three-assist effort by senior guard Derrick Strong (St. Louis, Mo.).
Felician (4-13, 2-8 CACC) never led, but after six minutes of action, was behind by only a score of 11-8. The visitors' offensive woes continued, however, and Post moved ahead, 21-11, with 11 minutes gone by. A bucket by Golden Falcon junior Jarryd Horsley-Fordham (Orange, N.J.) made it 24-17 with 4:32 left in the period, but the Eagles scored the next 12 points and went into intermission with a 36-19 advantage. The Golden Falcons were held to 31-percent shooting for the period.
A four-point play by Anthony Obery (Roselle, N.J.) and a jump shot by Jamal Reid (Newark, N.J.) allowed Felician to pull within 40-27 and 16:57 to play. But the Eagles drained three-point field goals on their next three possessions, including a pair by Stephen Perry Jr. (Westhampton, N.J.), and were in control for the rest of the night. Post led by as many as 24 points.
Junior center Jeyvi Miavivululu (Paterson, N.J.) scored nine points off the Felician bench, and classmate Will Thompson (Teaneck, N.J.) finished with seven points and five rebounds. Reid dished out seven assists against two turnovers.
Perry scored 15 points and Josh Tatum (Greenville, N.C.) 14 for the Eagles (5-11, 5-4). Post shot 49 percent from the floor, led by Strong's 6-for-8 performance.
Felician will play six of its final nine contests at home, beginning with a 3 p.m. date with Goldey-Beacom College in Rutherford on Saturday.
