Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The University of the Sciences used an efficient offense and a high-powered service game to earn a 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-16) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball victory over host Felician College on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.
Prior to the match, Felician (5-18, 3-15 CACC) celebrated Senior Day, honoring graduating middle blockers Tonia Ford (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) and Emma Reijonen (Joensuu, Finland/Lyseo Joensuun). Both players hit more than .400 with eight kills, and Reijonen added four blocks.
USciences (7-15, 4-13), which earned its fifth consecutive victory, posted a team attack percentage of .347 for the day. The Devils also piled up 18 service aces against just three service errors. USciences junior middle Caitlyn Crawford (Covington, Ohio/Covington) hit .647 and led all player with 12 kills.
Set 1 was tied on seven occasions, the last time at 8-8, before the Devils put together a an 8-1 run. Felician came no closer than a 17-12 deficit the rest of the way. Sciences senior setter Kaileen Bevenour (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Township) ended the set with three consecutive aces.
The Golden Falcons missed an opportunity to even the match in Set 2. The hosts led for a large majority of the set, and were ahead, 21-17, before the Devils stormed back to win 8 of the final 9 points.
The Devils then thwarted Felician's comeback hopes by moving ahead, 12-6, in Set 3. Felician earned the next three rallies, but Sciences responded seven of the next nine points and slowly pulled away.
Amanda DeAngelo (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) hit .474 with 11 kills for the visitors. Bevenour finished with 29 assists and six aces, and junior libero Nicole Rivera (Pittsford, N.Y.) had a match-high 19 digs.
Junior setter Susie McKeever (North Fort Myers, Fla./North Fort Myers) turned in 29 assists for the Golden Falcons, who complete their season with a 7 p.m. match at Post Universtiy on Nov. 5.
