CORTLAND, N.Y. – Freshman Dana-Marie Laloo (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) averaged 168.0 for five games to help lead the Felician College women's bowling team to a third-place finish out of six schools at the Big Red Invitational, hosted by Cornell University on Saturday and Sunday at Cort Lanes. Felician was the only NCAA program entered in the event.
Felician freshman Jessica Zalewski (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) shot the high individual game of the tournament, a 221 in Game 5 on Saturday.
The tournament format called for six traditional team matches on Saturday and three sets of five-game Baker contests on Sunday, with total pinfall determining the standings. Felician felled 4,854 pins on Day 1 (161.8 average) and totaled 2,471 (164.7) for the 15 Baker games for a final team score of 7,325.
The Golden Falcons finished just 14 pins behind runner-up Corning Community College. Schenectady County Community College won the tournament with 7,881 pins, and SCCC's Chenya D'Arcangelis was the individual winner with a six game total of 1,114.
Felician went 6-3 in dual matches for the weekend – 4-2 on Saturday and 2-1 on Sunday. The Golden Falcons are now 15-17 on the season (12-9 traditional, 3-8 Baker).
Laloo shot 155-208-166 in the first three traditional matches on Saturday. After sitting out Game 4, she finished the day with scores of 152 and 159. Her 840 placed her a team-best 17th out of 38 entrants. Laloo was the highest finisher among bowlers who did not participate in all six matches.
The other seven Golden Falcons all fell between 24th and 31st place. Freshman Michelle Gulino (Howell, N.J./Howell) posted the highest tournament average for Felician, shooting 171-179-156 in Games 2-4 for a 168.7.
