CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell University men's basketball team closed the first half with a 19-6 run to key its 84-59 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over visiting Felician College on Wednesday night at the Newman Center.

Caldwell (11-10, 7-6 CACC) was led by 18 points from junior Billy McDonald (North Haven, Conn.) and 14 rebounds by senior Michael Balkovic (Neptune, N.J.). Felician senior forward J.R. Pringley (Elizabeth, N.J.) shot 7 for 11 from the floor and turned in 18 points and seven rebounds in 31 minutes.

With eight minutes, 15 seconds, left in the first half, a three-point field goal by Felician sophomore Tim Massado (Wilmington, Del.) cut what was once an eight-point Cougar lead to 26-24. Caldwell, however, scored the game's next nine points, including five by Kevin Walker (Bayonne, N.J.), and eventually took a 45-30 edge into the break.

The momentum stayed with the hosts to begin period two. Caldwell scored the first four points of the second half, then, leading 51-34, produced a 9-1 run for its largest advantage of the night, 25 points. Felician (3-16, 3-10) never came closer than 18 points behind for the final 11 minutes.

The Cougars shot 50 percent from the floor and had an assist-to-turnover margin of 17-10. Walker (six rebounds, five assists) and junior guard Dawan Lighty (Paterson, N.J.) produced 16 points apiece for the winners. Caldwell held the Golden Falcons to 36-percent shooting and helped force 17 Felician turnovers.

Felician junior guard Lamine Cooper (Willingboro, N.J.) netted 12 points. Teammate A.J. Kemp (Jersey City, N.J.) registered eight points and seven rebounds in 27 bench minutes.

Felician returns home to face Georgian Court University on Saturday afternoon. The Lions, a second-year program, will be making their first trip to Rutherford.
