Box Score

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Helped by amassing 16 service aces, Concordia (N.Y.) College earned a 3-1 (19-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-20) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball victory over host Felician University on Tuesday night at Job Gymasium.

Concordia junior libero Celine Arada (San Francisco, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) led all players on the night with 18 digs and seven aces. Felician (0-18, 0-9 CACC) received 11 kills, nine digs and four aces from sophomore outside hitter Paulina Calero (El Centro, Calif./Southwest).

The hosts got off to a fast start. Felician scored the match's first four points, and let Set 1 by scores of 7-1 and 16-7. Concordia got back to within 18-16 before Felician pulled away for the victory.

Almost as quickly, the Clippers evened the match. Concordia led, Set 2, 12-5, before the Golden Falcons came as close as 16-13. The visitors then captured eight consecutive rallies en route to closing out the set.

In the pivotal third set, Concordia extended an 8-8 tie into a 17-9 advantage. Still trailing 21-13, the Golden Falcons made it all the way to within 23-22 before a service error and a ball-handling error derailed their chances.

Set 4 featured 10 ties and five lead changes. Concordia took the lead for good by running off three points in a row with the scored tied, 12-12. An ace by Felician's Hannah Skendziel (Tampa, Fla./Freedom) made it 20-18 in favor of the Clippers, but the visitors scored the next four points to pull away. The teams traded side-outs until a kill by Concordia sophomore Lauren Peters (Monterey Park, Calif./San Gabriel Mission) ended the match.

Felician failed to take advantage of an 11-3 edge in blocking. Skendziel finished with seven kills and five blocks and Kaleysa Vodrazka (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) had six kills and five blocks for the hosts. Felician junior Lanyse Castro (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth) accumulated eight kills and 11 digs.

Freshman Tatienne Tugade-Sua (Kalihi, Hawaii/Saint Francis School) came off the bench to lead all players with 14 kills for Concordia (1-11, 1-9).
