Box Score ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Felician University was defeated by host Dominican (N.Y.) College, 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-20) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball action on Tuesday night at the Hennessy Center.
Sophomore outside hitter Paulina Calero (El Centro, Calif.) led Felician (0-29, 0-18) with 12 kills. Junior outside Lanyse Castro (Elizabeth, N.J.) hit .316 and totaled seven kills, 13 digs and two blocks for the Golden Falcons.
After celebrating its Senior Night, Dominican (5-24, 4-14) raced out to a 9-2 first-set lead. Felician never came any closer than a five-point deficit for the rest of the set.
The Chargers also never trailed in Set 2. The Golden Falcons systematically sliced an 8-2 deficit to 18-16, but the hosts won the next four rallies to pull away.
Felician, looking to extend the match, went ahead, 6-3, to start the third set. Dominican recovered and went ahead by as much as 19-16. A service error by the Chargers brought the visitors to within 21-20, but Dominican went on to win the next four points, including match-closing kills by Gabrielle Napoleon (Springfield, Pa.) and Cortney Yeoman (Glenn Dale, Md.), to earn the victory.
Yeoman hit .407 with a match-high 13 kills for Domincian. Napoleon hit .467 with eight kills in two sets, and senior libero Angela Kim (Marlton, N.J.) led all players with 16 digs.
Felician received 24 assists and six digs from freshman setter Charlotte Greek (Menfiee, Calif.).
Felician will conclude its season by hosting Caldwell University on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Rutherford, N.J. Golden Falcon senior Sam Sielski (Hillside, N.J.) will be honored in a pre-match Senior Day ceremony.
