Second-Half Spurt Lifts Eagle Men Over Felician, 70-59

Box Score

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Felician University men's basketball team was limited to 23 second-half points in its 70-59 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to host Post University on Wednesday night at the Drubner Center. Post (12-8, 8-5 CACC) earned a sweep of the teams' two-game season series.

Felician junior guard Jamal Reid (Newark, N.J.) led all scorers with 22 points and added four assists. The Eagles received 21 points and five rebounds from senior guard David Seymour (Amityville, N.Y.), who drained six of his nine three-point field-goal attempts.

The Golden Falcons (7-14, 4-10) emerged from a first half which featured five ties and 10 lead changes with a 36-34 advantage. The lead swapped sides three more times in the early stages of the second period, with a lay-up by Felician senior Jeyvi Miavivululu (Paterson, N.J.) with 13 minutes, 46, seconds left in regulation putting the visitors back ahead, 44-43.

The Eagles tied the score when Malcolm Amos (Brookport, Ill.) made 1 of 2 foul shots on their next possession, and took the lead for good on Shay Agboola's (Atlanta, Ga.) putback with 12:54 to play. The scores were the beginning of a 21-6 run for the hosts that included seven points by Amos, including a jump shot at the 6:03 mark which put Post ahead, 64-50. With 4:03 remaining, a Seymour lay-in gave the Eagles their largest bulge of the night, 68-53.

Felician shot 35 percent from the field in the second half after a 48-percent performance in period one. The Golden Falcons also gave up a 40-27 rebounding advantage, including 14-7 on the offensive glass. Miavivululu netted 14 points and Marko Kozul (Astoria, N.Y.) 12 for Felician.

Amos finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists while, like Seymour, playing the entire 40 minutes. Post also got 17 points and nine rebounds from freshman forward Tamas Okros (Bristol, England).

Felician fell three games behind the final playoff spot from the CACC North Division with five games left to play.
