Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University opened the second half with a 21-2 run to take control of its 79-67 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball victory over visiting Post University on Wednesday night at Job Gymnasium. Felician senior guard Bryant Webb (Parlin, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) scored or assisted on 18 points in the decisive spurt, all in a span of fewer than five minutes.
The Golden Falcons (9-13, 6-8 CACC) earned a sweep of their two-game season series with Post. Felician pulled to within a half-game of Caldwell University for fourth place and the final playoff berth from the CACC North Division. It has five league games remaining, while Caldwell has six.
Felician sophomore forward Terrell Spaulding (Paterson, N.J./Eastside) amassed 24 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Golden Falcon junior guard Gjaimeir Stanford (Wilmington, Del./Howard) rung up all 19 of his points after halftime, and Webb finished the night with 11 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. Eagle junior guard Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass./Agawam) canned six three-point field goals and led all scorers with 26 points.
An opening period which contained six lead changes concluded with Post (9-12, 8-6) using a late Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif./Assumption) layup to carry an 30-29 edge into halftime. The Golden Falcons, however, obtained the lead for good on a three-point play by Kennedy Chukwuocha (Willingboro, N.J./Medford Tech) to start the second half. Stanford entered the scoring column with a three-pointer at the 18:26 mark, but Post's Joe Lockwood (London, England/Barking Abbey Academy) answered with a jumper to make it 35-32.
The hosts took control by tallying the game's next 15 points. Five points by Webb were bookended by trifectas from Stanford, and when Spaulding scored with 13:29 to play, Felician led, 50-32. Spaulding's three-pointer, one of five on the night, gave the Golden Falcons their largest spread, 60-38, at 9:12.
The Eagles used the longball to mount a comeback down the stretch. Shots from behind the arc on three consecutive possessions, the last two by Desrosiers, pulled Post to within 69-59 with 2:24 to play, and an Adrian Halilovich (Mali Zvornik, Serbia) tip-in at 1:38 made it 70-61. The closest the Eagles came was 75-67 at 0:53, but they did not score again.
Junior Damiun Moore (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Township) scored 11 points off the Felician bench. Post received 20 points from senior guard Malcolm Amos (Brookport, Ill./Kaskaskia College), and Halilovich recorded 11 points and eight rebounds.
