Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – A goal with 57 seconds left in regulation time lifted Goldey-Beacom College to a 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer victory over host Felician University on Saturday evening at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. Senior forward Danielle Stoll (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) scored for Felician (1-4-1, 1-2 CACC).
As the game clock wound down, it appeared as if the Golden Falcons and Lightning would advance to overtime for a fifth consecutive meeting. But as the one-minute announcement was made, Goldey-Beacom senior Amy Runciman (Luton, England/Stopsley) served a ball from the right side into the 18-yard box.
Freshman Alanna Speaks (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) was the first player to the ball. Her leaping header went diagonally left, evading the goalkeeper and into the net. It was Speaks' second score of the night, and allowed her to take over the CACC lead with six on the season.
The Lightning out-shot Felician, 8-3, in the opening period, and cashed in during the 31st minute. Junior Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland/East Glendalough) headed a loose ball out of the air and to the feet of Speaks. The rookie striker took a touch to the middle of the box, and finished from about eight yards out.
Stoll equalized for the Golden Falcons in the 62nd minute. She collected a ball played ahead by Amanda Nowak (Kolbuszowa, Poland/Lyndhurst [N.J.]), evaded a defender and met charging GBC keeper Marta Lopez (Valencia, Spain/Indian Hills CC). Stoll beat Lopez 1 v. 1 and dribbled around her to finish into the open net.
A strong individual effort by freshman goalkeeper Jamie Kazenmayer (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township) temporarily preserved the tie. With 12 minutes to play, Kazenmayer saved a Speaks offering on the right side of the goal, then sprinted across the goal mouth to make a kick save on Line Kristofferson's (Bergen, Norway/University of Sussex) shot on the rebound. A few minutes later, Lopez made a two–handed save against Stoll in what would turn into Felician's final shot of the night.
GBC wound up with an 18-7 edge in shots for the night, led by Runciman with five. Kazenmayer was credited with eight saves in defeat. Stoll got off four shots to lead Felician.
The victory allowed Goldey-Beacom (5-0-1, 4-0) to remain unbeaten on the season and in first place in the CACC.
The Golden Falcons conclude a three-game homestand with a non-conference matchup against Queens (N.Y.) College on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Lyndhurst.
