Box Score

NEWARK, Del. – The Felician University men's basketball team was outscored, 20-8, over a late seven-plus minute stretch of its 82-76 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to host Wilmington (Del.) University on Saturday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

Wilmington senior guard Nick Richards (New Castle, Del.) scored 11 of those final 20 points, and finished with a game-high 32. In the process, he passed Felician junior swingman Terrell Spaulding (Paterson, N.J.) to move into the CACC scoring lead. Richards added six rebounds and five assists on the afternoon, playing all 40 minutes.

Spaulding scored 15 points with seven rebounds. Through Saturday's games, Richards is averaging 20.9 points per game and Spaulding 20.1. Sophomore guard Zamir Wright (Newark, N.J.) (5-6 3FG) led four Golden Falcon double-figure scorers with 18 points.

The game featured 13 ties and 19 lead changes. The teams were even, 36-36, at halftime, and were knotted again, 52-52, following two free throws by the Wildcats Paul Medlin (Baltimore, Md.) with 13 minutes, 47 seconds, left in regulation time.

Richards scored the game's next six points. Felician answered with a quick 9-2 spurt, with a Spaulding three-pointer putting his team on top, 61-60, at the 9:47 mark. Another Spaulding jumper made it 65-62 with 7:54 to play.

Wilmington (13-8, 8-4 CACC) scored the next nine points to take the lead for good. Richards answered two Wright free throws with a three-pointer, then made two of this own at the line moments later for a 76-67 Wildcat edge. Spaulding canned a three to cut the visitors' deficit to 78-73 at the 2:39 mark, but those were the final points Felician would score until 0:06 remained.

The Wildcats committed just five turnovers. Wilmington received 16 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists from sophomore guard Jermaine Head (Edgewood, Md.).

Felician senior Gjaimeir Stanford (Wilmington, Del.) scored 16 points and added eight assists in his return to his hometown. Golden Falcon junior Rahsaan Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) extended his "double-double" streak to six, recording 14 points and 11 rebounds. He has nine double-doubles on the season.
