Box Score

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – Despite placing five scorers in double figures, Felician University was defeated, 108-98, by host Bloomfield College, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball action on Tuesday night at Bloomfield College Gymnasium.

Felician junior Zamir Wright (Newark, N.J.) scored 18 points in defeat. Golden Falcon freshman Dee-End McRae (Irvington, N.J.) came off the bench to record 15 points and six rebounds. Bloomfield junior Dontay Julius (Linden, N.J.) made 12 of 17 field-goal attempts to lead all scorers with 32 points.

The first half featured nine lead changes. Felician took its largest advantage just past the midway point, 25-18, after McRae split a pair of free throws. By the 5:37 mark, however, the sides were even, 32-32.

Trailing by five points with 2:15 to go until halftime, the Golden Falcons moved back ahead on consecutive three-point field goals by Wright and Manny Warren Jr. (South Amboy, N.J.). But Bloomfield closed the half with a 7-0 run over the final 1:18 to lead, 49-43 at the break. Bear senior Keith Washington (Philadelphia, Pa.) netted 21 first-half points.

Still trailing by that same six-point margin with 15:06 left in regulation, Felician shaved its deficit to 59-57 after back-to-back layups by Isiah Hinton-Gray (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Warren. Bloomfield, however, scored the game's next nine points.

A basket and free-throw by Jay'von Jackson (Plainfield, N.J.) got the visitors back to within 72-67 at the 8:59 mark. But after a three-pointer by Bear sophomore Rich Chapman (Newark, N.J.), the Golden Falcons never came closer than that eight-point margin for the rest of the night.

Bloomfield shot 56 percent from the field in the second half on their way to closing out the victory. The Bears also accumulated a 60-49 rebounding advantage. Chapman scored 29 points with 12 rebounds, and Washington finished with 26 points, six rebounds, and six assists.

Jackson totaled 13 points and eight rebounds. Felician received 12 points and six boards from junior Rachid Shimou (Piscataway, N.J.), while freshman Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J.) recorded 10 points, five rebounds and five assists.

The Golden Falcons host a make-up CACC contest against Holy Family University on Thursday at 8 p.m. in Rutherford.
