Felician Is Seventh In Traditional Half Of Bowl For Cure

DOUGLASSVILLE, Pa. – Senior right-hander Nicole Aumack (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) bowled a 246 game and sophomore righty Natalie Swindell (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) shot 222 to lead the Felician University women's bowling team to a 941-835 victory over Mercyhurst University during the fifth and final match of the traditional-play half of the Molloy College Bowl for the Cure event, held on Saturday at Jay Lanes.

The one-day event called for five matches in the traditional team format. With 10 teams competing, the first four sets of matchups were determined by random draw. Match 5 was a position round, with the team in first place to that point meeting second place, etc. Felician's Match 5 win over Mercyhurst avenged a 963-841 loss to the Lakers earlier in the day and left it with a seventh-place result.

Individually, junior righty Jenn Ingulli (Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Township) led the Golden Falcons on the day. Ingulli felled 958 pins for a per-game average of 191.6. She rolled a high game of 209 and put three others in the 190s. Fifty-nine individuals competed in at least one match; based on total pins, Ingulli placed 18th.

Aumack and Swindell were the only other Golden Falcons to start all five matches. Aumack totaled 927 pins (185.4 average) and finished 21st, while Swindell shot 873 (174.6) and ended up 28th. Despite not competing in Match 1, Felician freshman left-hander Eliza Abreu (Fords, N.J./Woodbridge) was 36th in the field with 739 (184.8).

As a unit, Felician posted a per-game average of 173.0. Their 4,326 pins left the Golden Falcons 312 behind sixth-place Molloy and 74 ahead of Coppin State University in eighth. However, the rematch with Mercyhurst was their only dual-match victory.

After beginning the day with setbacks to the host Lions and the Lakers, Felician was faced with consecutive nationally-ranked opponents. The Golden Falcons competed gamely with No. 21 Adelphi University, falling 883-863, but then ran into a hot Wilmington (Del.) University squad. The No. 24 Wildcats took a 1005-859 Match 4 victory.

No. 13-ranked Mount Saint Mary's (Md.) University was the tournament champion, totaling 4,976 pins for a per-game, per-player average of 199.0. The Mount topped runner-up Adelphi by 17 pins. Kutztown University was the only school to post a perfect 5-0 dual-match record, but settled for fourth place in the pinfall standings. Wilmington freshman K.C. Miller captured the event's Most Valuable Player award with a five-game total of 1,084.

Eight of the 10 teams in the field, including the Golden Falcons, are members of the East Coast Conference.

Felician returns to Douglassville on Sunday for the Baker-play half of the event.
