RUTHERFORD, N.J. – For the first time in its seven-year history, the Felician University women's bowling program will host a tournament. On Saturday and Sunday, five other teams will join the Golden Falcons at Lodi Lanes for the New York Metro Invitational.
Felician is an associate member of the East Coast Conference for the sport of women's bowling. Joining the Golden Falcons in Lodi this weekend will be fellow ECC members Bloomfield College, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College and Molloy College, as well as New Jersey City University of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. All six teams will be competing in their first event of the 2020-21 season, which has been abbreviated due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
This weekend's tournament is being staged as two separate one day events. On Saturday, teams will bowl in four traditional team matches beginning at 1:25 p.m. At the same time on Sunday, the squads will reconvene for four five-game Baker matches. A five-player All-Tournament Team, including a Most Valuable Player, will be named at the end of each day.
Per Felician policy due to the pandemic, no spectators will be permitted to attend in person at Lodi Lanes on either day. Felician plans to provide a live webstream on which each school is expected to appear at least twice each day. Links for the webstream can be accessed at www.caccnetwork.com/felician.
Felician is led by third-year head coach Taylor Strothmann. Saturday's play will represent the first intercollegiate competition for any Felician team since March 13, 2020.
