Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Felician University women's soccer team concluded a three-game homestand with a 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to Post University on Wednesday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. Sophomore midfielder Katinka Ummels (Urmond, Netherlands/Graaf Huyn College) scored the Golden Falcon goal.
The teams played to a scoreless deadlock after 45 minutes. Felician freshman goalkeeper Julia Aguilar (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) preserved the halftime tie with a late-period quick-reaction save of a Post direct kick.
The Golden Falcons were the first team on the scoreboard. Fewer than four minutes into period two, a free kick by senior Paloma Garcia (Union City, N.J./Union City) from just behind the midfield line entered the 18-yard box and snaked past two defenders to Ummels, who finished with a low strike for her second marker of the season.
Post (5-6-1, 4-4-1) answered nearly immediately. Aguilar got both hands on a crossed ball, but could not hang on. With the ball near her feet, opportunistic Eagle senior Sabrina Adamo (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) pushed it past her to even the score at the 51:49 mark.
The Golden Falcons (1-11, 0-7) survived a flurry of Eagle shots and a corner kick during the 59th minute. But the visitors continued to push the attack, and with 16:56 remaining in regulation time, took the lead for the first time. A cross from the right side by Alyssa Hebb (Waterbury, Conn./Holy Cross) found teammate Hailey McGee (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Liberty) for the finish at the far post.
The Eagles successfully defended Felician's only corner kick of the night during the time that remained, and the hosts were unable to test Post senior goalkeeper Tayleur Little (Mandeville, Jamaica/Mike Gully) down the stretch. Little earned the victory with two saves, while Aguilar stopped five shots for Felician.
Post held advantages of 16-6 in shots and 6-1 in corners. McGee was the individual shot leader on the night with five.
On Saturday, Felician plays at Goldey-Beacom College at noon in Wilmington, Del.
