Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Redshirt junior Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J./John F. Kennedy) scored a career-high 28 points and classmate Justin Davis (Jersey City, N.J./Hoboken) recorded 26 points and 13 rebounds to lead Felician University to a 99-73 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball victory over visiting Holy Family University on Sunday night at Job Gymnasium.
Colon was 8 for 18 from three-point range. He set the Felician record for attempts from behind the arc, and tied the program mark for single-game three-point field goals. Teammate Jay'von Jackson (Plainfield, N.J./St. Mary-Elizabeth) was 8 for 10 during a Jan. 2, 2019, victory over Caldwell University.
Felician (10-6, 5-3 CACC), which leads the CACC in scoring offense at 83.6 points per game, posted a season-high offensive total. Junior wing Etnik Peci (Pristina, Kosovo/Renaissance Academy [Calif.]) totaled 14 points and four assists for the Golden Falcons, and freshman wing Sean McCarthy (Cork, Ireland/Colaiste Choilm) added 10 points in 11 bench minutes.
Felician was ahead, 23-9, after nine minutes of play. Up 36-21 with six minutes, 32 seconds, left in the first half, the Golden Falcons embarked on a 12-0 run for a 27-point edge at the 3:28 mark. A successful Peci jump shot during the closing seconds allowed the hosts to match that margin, 55-28, at halftime. Felician's largest lead was 63-30 following two Davis free throws with 17:40 remaining in the contest.
Freshman guard Manny Toha (Newark, N.J./Marist) scored 21 points to lead Holy Family (7-15, 2-10). Felician junior Dee-End McRae (Newark, N.J./Newark Central) registered eight points, six rebounds and five assists. The Golden Falcons made a season high 15 three-pointers and outscored HFU, 22-6, at the foul line.
The previous Felician record of 14 three-point field-goal attempts in a game was shared by Chris Chiera, Marcin Ziobron and Zamir Wright.
Felician is back in Rutherford on Tuesday to take on nationally-ranked Dominican (N.Y.) College at 8 p.m.
