Box Score Livingston, NJ- Felician women's soccer celebrated its 25-years of its program and its annual Homecoming Saturday evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up against Chestnut Hill. The Golden Falcons had a late 2-goal surge, but it was not enough to top its opponent as they lost 4-2 at Newark Academy in Livingston, NJ.
In the opening minutes, Felician was able to tally the first 5 shots of the match by Carlie Koziol (East Rutherford, NJ), Katinka Ummels (Urmond, Netherlands) and Isabella Bertossi (Ballito, South Africa), but none on goal. Moving towards the 20-minute mark, the Griffins turned the tables and recorded a pair of shots of their own, leading to the first goal of the night, by Lizzie Stokes assisted from Madeline Jimenez, 1-0. From that point on, the Golden Falcons struggled to get a shot off, while the visiting team scored another goal, 2-0, from Madeline Jiminez on an assist by Rebecca Dalton.
With the second half underway, Anne Noonan (Hawthorn, NJ) attempted a shot, but once again, to no avail as it resulted wide. The Griffins kept the pressure on with their third goal of the night, by Jiminez, her second, as she kicked the ball high and over Felician keeper, Karlie Cabrera (Suwanee, GA). Just moments later, the opponents netted their fourth and final goal by Lauren Sullivan, who curved the ball from her own corner kick into the back of the net, 4-0.
Under 2-minutes left to play, the Golden Falcons came alive as they quickly recorded 2 goals within 57-seconds of each other. Briana Franco (Totowa, NJ) ignited the run with the first goal from a beaming kick that hit off the hands of Chestnut Hill's keeper to find the back of the net, 4-1. Kate Braun (Long Branch, NJ) had Felician's second goal, 4-2, but the clock winded down to zero and the Griffins ran away with the win. Chestnut Hill's record is now 5-2-2 overall and 3-1-2 in CACC.
After tonight's loss, the women's soccer team is now 2-8-1 and 1-5 CACC. They will be back in action Wednesday on the road against Saint Thomas Aquinas at 2pm.
