Nnagbo Named Game MVP After 70-66 Win Over Bowie State

HARLEM, NY – Felician Men's Basketball clinched an intense win over Bowie State, 70-66, during the Harlem Renaissance Classic at the City College of New York in Harlem, NY on Saturday Night. Senior Ebuka Nnagbo (Niagara Falls, NY) was named game MVP as he led the Golden Falcons with 17 points and 7 rebounds.

Freshman, Jonathan Edwards (Waterbury, CT) recorded his second career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Anas Amos (Newark, NJ) also had 15-points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists while Jaylen Colon (Paterson, NJ) had 12.

In the game, there were 9 lead changes and 10 ties. In the first half, Felician would find themselves down 10-6 to come back and take the lead after an Amos three and Colon layup, 11-10. Despite the ties, the Golden Falcons would not let Bowie State top them until a Bulldogs dunk to lead 31-29. Colon and Edwards would record 5 combined points to go into halftime leading 34-31.

Midway through the second half, Felician would hold its largest lead of the night at 9, 51-42, after Edwards laid in 2-points and Colon clinched a three and a pair of free throws.

In the final 10-minutes of the game, Nnagbo came alive recording 11 of his 17 points in the second half. After grabbing an offensive rebound, the forward was sent to the line to sink both. In the next two Golden Falcon possessions, Nnagbo recorded a layup and two more free-throws for a 58-51 lead. His final points of the night was from a clutch tip-in coming out of a Felician timeout.

With under a minute left to play, the Bulldogs were only trailing by two. The Golden Falcons forced a turnover to have Bowie State have no choice, but to foul to stop the clock. Amos was sent to the line to make two to close out the game, 70-66, in favor of Felician.

The men's basketball team advances to 2-1 overall as they head into their next game on Saturday Nov. 26 in Job Gymnasium against Frostburg State at 7pm.
