Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician men's basketball returned from winter break hosting Bloomfield in CACC action Thursday evening. Despite a great run down the stretch for the Golden Falcons to lead 69-68 with just over one minute left, the Bears closed the game on an 8-2 run to take a 76-71 victory.
Felician rebounded from trailing 33-24 at halftime and as much as a 12-point deficit early in the second half to tie the game at 58-58 with 6:50 to play on a thrilling alley oop carried out by Jonathan Edwards (Waterbury, Conn. / Waterbury Career Academy) off a feed from Sean McCarthy (Cork, Ireland / Colaiste Choilm). The game was tied on two more occasions before a jumper by Edwards put Felician up 69-68. The Bears responded on the ensuing possession off a Tyrek Battle-Holley 3-pointer to regain the lead and never looked back. Free throws made up the rest of the night's scoring.
Edwards was Felician's leading scorer with 19 points and pulling in nine rebounds with three steals. Ebuka Nnagbo (Niagara Falls. N.Y. / Park School of Buffalo) nailed down a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards, making 5-of-6 from the field, while Anas Amos (Newark, N.J. / Newark East Side) tallied 13 points. McCarthy nearly had a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds, garnering three assists and three steals. Deiker Padrino (Bogota, N.J. / Bogota) delivered nine points and five boards in 22 minutes off the bench.
The Golden Falcons outshot the Bears, faring 39.7 percent (27-of-68) to Bloomfield's 38.6 (27-of-70). Bloomfield led on the boards 46-42 and 31-11 in bench points.
Thursday's matchup puts head coach Ivan Lewis' team at 4-8 and 0-3 in league play. Their upcoming CACC slate includes heading on the road to Jefferson this Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. tipoff before ringing in the new year with a home meeting against Alliance on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 8:00 p.m.
