Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Redshirt sophomore attackman Robert Grasso (Islip, N.Y./Islip) became the Felician University men's lacrosse all-time assist leader during the Golden Falcons 20-9 non-conference loss to visiting Roberts Wesleyan College on Friday afternoon at Tryon Field.
Grasso had three assists during the game to run his career total to 19. Former teammate James D'Albora held the previous record of 18 from 2018-21. With 57 goals and 76 points, Grasso now owns all three career scoring records for Felician, a fifth-year program.
Golden Falcon redshirt junior faceoff man Tajae McLean-Byrd (Bronx, N.Y./Mount St. Michael Academy) surpassed 400 career faceoff wins during the contest. He was 13 for 28 on Friday and led Felician with eight ground balls. McLean-Byrd is now 405-680 (.596) from the faceoff 'X' during his collegiate career.
Roberts Wesleyan (4-1) took control early on Friday. The Redhawks led, 6-0, after one period, and eventually scored the game's first 13 goals before Felician freshman Finn Crocker (South Hamilton, Mass./Beverly) found the cage with 15 seconds remaining until halftime. The hosts trailed 18-4 after three quarters, then notched five of the game's final six goals to salvage the final margin.
Jabes Escalante (Chelsea, Mass./Chelsea) totaled three goals for the Golden Falcons (3-2). Teammates Alfonso Guerrero (Bellmore, N.Y./W.C. Mepham) and Filipe Correia (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) had two each and McLean-Byrd also scored for the hosts. Reid Jackowski (Syracuse, N.Y./Lafayette) had six goals for Roberts and teammate Nate Maloney (Buffalo, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) registered three goals and three assists.
Redhawk goalkeeper Aidan Sheehan (Buffalo, N.Y./East Aurora) earned the victory with 13 saves. His Felician counterpart, freshman Nick Grebe (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East) had nine saves and six ground balls.
Felician continues a four-game homestand by facing Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Rutherford.
