RINDGE, N.H. - Felician men's soccer was on an eight game winning skid going into the Tuesday match-up with the number one ranked team in the nation for Division II and in the east region, Franklin Pierce University, in New Hampshire. The
United Soccer Coaches Week Seven Poll, that was announced on 10/17, had the Golden Falcons jump up two spots to third in the east, however, the Ravens were a big contender for the green-and-gold. After being shut out in the first half of play, the Golden Falcons dropped 5-1 in the contest to record their first official loss since East Stroudsburg on 8/31 (ties not included).
Throughout the first half, the Ravens were able to dominate the field by recording five shots and held Felician to only one, which was taken by
Lorenzo Ferrari (Palestro, Italy) who booted it directly into the hands of the keeper. Two of the shots from the hosts were able to find the back of the net early into the match for the 2-0 advantage over the Golden Falcons.
Less than five-minutes out of halftime, Franklin Pierce posted another goal to push Felician into a three goal deficit and soon to be four. In the 82nd-minute,
Alex Ramos (Almada, Portugal) centered the ball from the right corner to find the head of
Kosmo Nowak (Stockholm, Sweden) for his first collegiate career goal and for Felician to avoid the shut out, 4-1. As the hosts piled on another point, the Golden Falcons were handed the regional loss 5-1 and will return back to Rutherford with a 9-2-1 overall record.
Men's Soccer will return to conference play on Thursday afternoon when they host Georgian Court at Tryon Field for a 12:30 pm kick off time.
