RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Felician women's soccer hosted Georgian Court University for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up on Tuesday afternoon at Tryon Field. The squad was able to hold the Lions to just 2 goals through 67-minutes of play to have
Victoria Drotos (Wood-Ridge, N.J.) put the green-and-gold on the board in looks to tie the contest. Ultimately, the Golden Falcons gave up another opposer goal for the 3-1 conference loss for a 0-6-1 CACC record, 0-9-3 overall.
The Lions were able to post up 21 shots in the contest compared to the Golden Falcons 11.
Kate Braun (Long Branch, N.J.) recorded 5 shots for the squad, two on goal, while
Anne Noonan (Hawthorne, N.J.),
Emily Tierney (Massapequa, N.Y.),
Emmy Eskridge (Temecula, C.A.),
Julia Vaas (Rotterdam, Netherlands),
Lindsay Whaley (Subic Bay, Philippines), and Drotos had one apiece.
Felician started the game with the momentum in their favor as they gained control of the ball for three shots in under 10-minutes, however, none on goal. The game shifted into Georgian Court's favor when they netted a goal at the 26th minute to hold the 1-0 advantage over the hosts.
During the second half, Georgian was able to record its second goal of the afternoon on a shot off the post that bounced back in the middle of the goal box. Although, the two goal lead was short lived when Braun battled into the goal box to find Drotos to give Felician its lone goal of the afternoon, her second of the season. With time winding down, the Lions put themselves up by two once again on a free kick goal for the 3-1 win over the Golden Falcons.
The women's soccer squad will be back in action on Friday when they hit the road to face Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia, P.A. at 7:00pm.
