Reigning Champs Fall Short in the WXC Championship Race

PHILADELPHIA, P.A. - One year ago at the Belmont Plateau, the Felician women's cross country squad made school history capturing the first women's championship title. Sunday morning, the Golden Falcons returned to the historic course to compete once again in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championships in looks to defend their 2022 title. 

As the final times were beginning to become finalized, the women's squad sat in fourth place of 10 schools with an overall time of 22:25.91 for thr 5k. The Golden Falcons had three runners finish in the top-20, however, only one claimed an all-conference honors. Cynthia Delapaz claimed her second All-CACC recognition for her 12th place finish of 21:30.55. Two places behind the junior, Catherine Catipay finished next for the green-and-gold with a time of 21:55.72 and Tahasia Thomas was the final finished in the top-20 when she finished at 22:19.39. 

Callie Negro and Kaitlyn Vieira finished within just seconds of each other with the senior in front with a time of 23:08.21 and the freshman at 23:15.59 for back-to-back Felician finishes. Similarly, Kelsey Pereira (23:58.32) and Marilyn Gonzalez (24:05.11) followed the pattern set by Negro and Vieira when they finished a few moments apart to wrap of the combined time for the Golden Falcons.
