LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Saturday afternoon, the Felician volleyball squad traveled to Georgia Court University for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up in which the green-and-gold dropped in the fifth set, 2-3.
During the contest,
Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) has become the all-time leader in another Felician record book category when she snagged 24 digs against the Lions to put herself at 1,604 digs in her career. Not only does she hold that record, last season set the career assist record (2,539) and also is all-time in sets played in a season, assists in a season, and matches played in a season. Earlier in the season, the graduate student secured her 100th service ace - she currently has 104 where she is third all-time.
The Golden Falcons were off to a slow start to spark the day as they dropped in the first 18-25, but eventually bounced back to snag the second and third sets, 25-23 both times. In the fourth, Felician carried its momentum throughout when they held an 8-3 lead on a four

Megan Barker (St. Catharines, Canada) kill. After the green-and-gold's ninth point, the Lions rallied for five points to take the 10-9 lead and ultimately force a fifth set for the contest.
With the Lions dominating the court, the Golden Falcons could not surpass the hosts as they dropped 7-15 to give the Lions the overall match win.
Maldonado lead the green-and-gold with 22 kills and six service aces while Barker had 16 kills.
The volleyball squad, who clinched their spot in the CACC playoffs will be back in action on Thursday in JJJ Gymnasium to host Post University at 7:00pm.
