RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Karla Maldonado (Morovis, Puerto Rico) was a powerful presence for Felician Volleyball's offense during Thursday night's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up with Caldwell University as she posted 19 kills, a individual season high. The Golden Falcons went to drop 19-25 in the first set to win three consecutively to be crowned victor of the match, 3-2, and to ignite a three game win streak.
The Golden Falcons posted a .241 kill percentage with 55 kills as Maldonado set the tone and
Megan Barker (St. Catharines, Ontario) not too far behind with 13.
Sophia Watterson (Bowling Green, K.Y.) recorded 27 assists,
Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) had 15 digs, and
Jelena Vucic (Smederevo, Serbia) and
Tatum Williams (Corona, C.A.) had two blocks.
After the loss in set one and a quick green-and-gold regroup, the Golden Falcons came back to take the second set 25-17, also the same way in the third set 25-17. The Golden Falcons were up 2-1 and entered the final set of the match and instantly took a 6-2 lead on Maldonado kills and aces from Barker, who had five in the contest. With the hosts having a 23-16 advantage, the Cougars would rally a comeback that was halted by a opposer service error to put Felician at point game. In an exciting fashion, the fourth set was finalized when
Sara Betts (Goodyear, A.Z.) posted a commanding kill that handed Felician the 3-1 win and to improve their record to 6-11 overall and 4-2 in the CACC.
The Volleyball squad will hit the road this Saturday to continue conference play against Holy Family in Philadelphia, P.A. at 12:00pm.
