RUTHERFORD, N.J. - In a high scoring home opener Monday night, Felician Men's Basketball toppled the Mercy University Mavericks, 124-98, as 10 Golden Falcons recorded at least a point and
Anas Amos (Newark, N.J.) recorded his 1,000th point.
Amos is the second men's basketball player to reach the 1,000th point milestone this season. Just on Saturday at St. Michael's College,
Dee-End McRae (Newark, N.J.) became the 12th Golden Falcon to join the Men's Basketball 1,000 Point Club and Amos is now the 13th.
In the first half, the Golden Falcons had the hot hand when they shot 55% from behind the arc (15-27) for 69 points, and held a the 35-point lead over the Mavericks as they entered halftime. By the second, the visitors posted a 60+ point half of their own and held the Golden Falcons to 55 in an attempt to cut into the Felician advantage, but the first half spike from the hosts was too overbearing.
Key Players:
- Amos led the team with 27-points and has become the 13th men's basketball player to reach the 1,000th point milestone. He also had six assists, four steals, and four rebounds.
- Jabri Fitzpatrick (North Brunswick, N.J.) bucketed 22 points shooting 7-8 from the field, 4-4 from behind the arc to be second on the team in points for the night.
- Justin Davis (Jersey City, N.J.), Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J.), and McRae posted double-digit points with Davis having 19, Colon, 15, and McRae 11.
- Jhonny Tovar (Caracas, Venezuela) may have only posted four points, but he paced the team on the boards with 10 while also recording seven assists and two blocks.

Box Score Highlights:
- The Golden Falcons set two new standards in the Felician record book as a team. They first posted the "most points in a single game" with 124, which was set back in 2019, and "three-pointers made in a game" with 23.
- Felician shot 50% from the field (43-86) and 47% from the three. Mercy was only able to net 12 treys for the 37.5 shot percentage from downtown, however, they recorded 10 of their 12 treys in the second half.
- The lone Maverick lead was on their first point of the night one minute into regulation... immediately after the Golden Falcons went on a 12-2 run and never relinquished the lead.
