RUTHERFORD, N.J. - After 10-days, the Felician men's basketball team was back in action late Sunday afternoon when they hosted the College of Saint Rose in JJJ Gymnasium. The green-and-gold sped past the Golden Knights as they secured the 86-72 non-conference win and jumped back into the winner's bracket before their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener on Wednesday.
The Golden Falcons obtained a swift 30-9 lead through the first half and never surrendered their advantage for the remainder of the contest.
Here's What Happened:
- The Golden Falcons opened up regulation with a 12-5 run, however, when they secured their 30th point on a Justin Davis (Jersey City, N.J.) jumper, the Golden Knights held the green-and-gold to that standard for four-minutes to cut the 20-point lead to 10 at the halftime mark.
- With the second half under way, Jhonny Tovar kept the Felician momentum alive with a dunk and an easy bucket for four quick points to push the Felician advantage to 14.
- The largest lead of the night of 23 was recorded by Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J.) from behind the arc, 57-34, with 14-minutes remaining in the game.
- A Golden Knights 19-9 run slashed the host lead to 13, but Anas Amos (Newark, N.J.) halted the attempted opposer force when he netted a pair from the line, 68-53. The next three points from the squad happened from the free-throw line when Colon recorded two and Dee-End McRae (Newark, N.J.) one.
- As the time winded down, the Golden Falcons captured the non-conference win, 86-72, with four Felician players recorded double-digit points.
