Senior Day Celebration Leads to Massive CACC Victory

RUTHERFORD, N.J. - On Saturday afternoon, Felician volleyball celebrated Mariam Kromah (Willingboro, N.J.) on her career wearing green-and-gold. In the event, the Golden Falcons hosted the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Volleyball Champions, Jefferson University Rams, in JJJ Gymnasium to take the massive 3-0 win.

Kromah currently sits second in the conference in blocks per set with .094 and this afternoon the senior posted 3 blocks alongside Sara Betts (Goodyear, A.Z.). The Golden Falcons only tallied 14 attack errors while the Rams had 20 that aided in the contest sweep - 28-26, 25-21,25-16.

In the 28-26 first set, Felician posted five consecutive points on kills by Megan Barker (St. Catharine's, Canada) and Betts, however, the Rams rallied six of their own to take the 5-6 lead in an attempt to slow down the Golden Falcon momentum. As the set continued, the Rams held a 18-21 advantage over the hosts. The celebrated senior, Kromah recorded back-to-back kills to put the green-and-gold just one point away from a tie and after an Ashanna Caviness (Bogota, N.J.) kill and a Lorina Stoycheva (Sofia, Bulgaria) service ace the score sat in favor of Felician 23-22. With the score push passed 25, Barker sealed the first set with a kill for the 1-0 match lead.

The second and third set bled green-and-gold as the host recorded a .282 and .345 hitting percentage respectively with 29 of their 44 kills recorded throughout. Barker paced the way with 14 kills, Caviness behind her with nine and seven from Betts. Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) had 26 digs.

The volleyball squad improved to 12-14 overall and 10-5 in the CACC. They will wrap of their regular season at Caldwell University on November 8th at 6:00pm.
