Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician University men's basketball team carried a 10-point lead into halftime Saturday against Goldey-Beacom. The Lightning struck in the second half to close in on the Golden Falcons' lead, eventually dropping 53 points in the latter session and flashing three 20-point performances to claim an 86-76 win.
Felician led, 43-33, at the half before Goldey-Beacom opened the second with a 19-5 run to go up 52-48 with 15 minutes remaining. The two teams battled it out, with the two being tied on three occasions the next five minutes. Ahead, 64-63, the Lightning produced nine straight points over the next three minutes to set some distance. Felician got no closer than nine points the rest of the way.
Five Golden Falcons finished in double digits, led by Anas Amos (Newark, N.J.) posting 19 points with five assists. Deiker Padrino (Bogota, N.J.) nailed 13 points off the bench, hitting 3-of-6 threes, while Jamling Lama (Secaucus, N.J.) charted 12 points off the pine to tie a game-best shooting 4-of-5 from long range. Ebuka Nnagbo (Niagara Falls. N.Y.) had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Etnik Peci (Pristina, Kosovo) also posted 10 points.
On Goldey-Beacom's side, Ayshion Centeno led the game with 24 points, making 9-of-14 from the floor. Damani Thomas hit on 22 points off the bench with a 8-of-13 showing from the field, while Zayon Marsh earned a double-double with 20 points and 12 boards, making 13-of-14 from the free throw line.
The Lightning made 47.3 percent (26-of-55) with 12-of-22 threes and 22-of-25 free throws. Felician finished at 43.9 percent (29-of-66), making 9-of-27 threes and 9-of-11 from the line. GB led on the boards, 36-26. Felician held leads in points off turnovers, 21-11, off 13 Lightning miscues and 36-28 in points in the paint.
The Golden Falcons take flight again at Dominican this Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m.
