RUTHERFORD, N.J. - JJJ Gymnasium, on the Felician Rutherford Campus, roared during Monday night's volleyball match up with Felician and Assumption University. The Golden Falcons went up early with a first set win to be in a constant battle with the Greyhounds to drop 3-1 in the day.
Set one, the Golden Falcons captured the 25-20 after a battle back from a 9-6 deficit and a volleyed score until the Greyhounds held a 19-17 advantage.
Ashanna Caviness (Bogota, N.J.) posted two back-to-back kills to give Felician the momentum to force a attack error and a service ace for a 22-19 lead. After a green-and-gold service error,
Faith Sibert (Wyandotte, M.I.)and
Karla Maldonado (Morovis, Puerto Rico) also recorded a kill to ultimately give Felician the 1-0 lead on their home court.
After a 25-21, 25-22, and 25-20 second to fourth set, the Greyhounds rallied three consecutive set wins to hold off the Golden Falcons for their fourth straight win of their season.
Caviness lead the offensive charge for the Golden Falcons with 11 kills while Maldonado had 10 and
Jelena Vucic (Smederevo, Serbia) had 6.
Sara Betts (Goodyear, A.Z.) defended the net with 4 blocks and
Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) in the back end with 22 digs.
The Golden Falcons will be back in action this Wednesday to open up conference play as they face the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut.
