SPARKILL, N.Y. – Women's Volleyball had a grueling Friday night with a dual match with Lincoln (Pa.) University and St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, N.Y. In the first match with the Lions, the Golden Falcons battled through five sets to capture their first win of the 2023 season.

Lincoln (Pa.): 3-2 Win
The Golden Falcons recorded double digit kills through the initial four sets (14, 11, 13, 15) of the match with the Lions for a .203 attack percentage to secure the 3-2 win.
After falling behind quick after the first set, the Golden Falcons captured the second and third set wins for the 2-1 advantage. The Lions were able to force the fifth and final set of the match as Felician ran away with the win 15-9 to secure their first victory of the 2023 season.
With the win,
Sophia Watterson (Bowling Green, K.Y.) placed herself in the Felician record book with 50 assists through the five sets to sit tied for fifth all-time.
Megan Barker (St. Catharine's, Ontario) paced the Golden Falcon offense with 19 kills, a season high, while
Ashanna Caviness (Bogota, N.J.) had 15.
Kayden Mallette (Maggie Valley, N.C.) was the libero for the first match as she secured 24 digs and Baker had 15.

STAC: 3-1 Win
As the first match wrapped up, the Golden Falcons were given just thirty minutes to re-group and prepare for its final match of the evening against St. Thomas Aquinas. The green-and-gold kept up the momentum from their first match as they posted a whopping 51 team kills for a .279 kill percentage in four sets for the 3-1 win over the hosts.
Felician were victorious after the first two sets, however, the Spartans battled back and stole the third from the Golden Falcons' grasp. With the fourth set underway, the Golden Falcons trailed their opposer 16-12 to ultimately rally 6 consecutive points to edge STAC 20-16. By the end of the evening, the score read 25-23 in favor of the green-and-gold to hand Felician its second win of the season.

Karla Maldonado (Morovis, Puerto Rico) recorded 16 kills while
Sara Betts (Goodyear, A.Z.) and Barker had 10.
Faith Sibert (Wyandotte, M.I.) defended the net with 5 blocks and
Jelena Vucic (Smederevo, Serbia) had 3 while
Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) defended the back line with 22 digs.
The Golden Falcons (2-7 / 0-1 CACC) will look to stay in the winner's circle as they host Bloomfield College Tuesday night at 7:00pm in JJJ Gymnasium.
