CALDWELL, N.J. - Felician Men's Soccer (4-1-1 / 3-0) strides on a three-game win streak after taking down the undefeated Caldwell University on the Cougars home turf Tuesday afternoon, 7-4. To add onto the Golden Falcons hype, Caldwell was ranked 5th in the
East Region while the Golden Falcons were ranked 10th as of Sept. 26.
Lorenzo Ferrari (Palestro, Italy) scored four goals to propel the Golden Falcons to the 7-4 victory while
Gianluca Trastulli (Rome, Italy),
Massimo Girardi (Rome, Italy), and
Erick Vargas (Wallkill, N.J.) netted one goal each. In a valiant team effort,
Hugo Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain),
Tim Jaeger (Schwalmtal, Germany),
Manuel Otero (2) (Sanxenxo, Spain),
Alex Ramos (Almada, Portugal),
Anthony Medina (San Sebastian, Spain), and
Dario Gomez (2) (Lake Worth, F.L.) had at least one assist during the contest.
During the first half, the Golden Falcons were on the board swiftly with a 4th-minute point for Ferrari's first goal of the afternoon. The Cougars were able to tie the match at one, however, the Golden Falcons answered back 2 minutes later by Trastullli to edge the hosts 2-1. Newcomer, Ferrari, netted another goal for the 3-1 advantage to only have the Cougars put on another point that led to intermission and the scoreboard reading 3-2 in favor of the green-and-gold.
Girardi and Ferrari continued to increase the Golden Falcon lead to stimulate the second half momentum, 5-2. Every time the hosts recorded a goal, the Golden Falcons always had an answer when the Cougars recorded a 53rd-minute point but Vargas put an end to the comeback attempt with a goal less than a minute later, 6-3. The final Felician goal, and his fourth goal of the match, would come from Ferrari. Caldwell would score one more time, but the clock winded down and the Golden Falcons secured its third Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win of the 2023 season.
The regionally ranked men's soccer team will be back in action Sunday to host Molloy University at Tryon Field for a 7:00pm start time.
