PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y - Felician Volleyball has a busy three days ahead of them as they entered its first of four games in three days against Pace University Thursday evening. In a comeback event, the Golden Falcons secured the third set win to stay alive but ultimately dropped to the Setters 3-1.
Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) led the team defensively with 23 digs and
Karla Maldonado (Morovis, Puerto Rico) had 16 digs and led the offense with 11 kills.
After dropping in the first two sets, 19-25 and 22-25 respectively, the Felician posted a .265 kill percentage with 13 kills on 34 attacks to record the third set win to see another set.
Sara Betts (Goodyear, A.Z.) recorded two back-to-back kills to tie at 21 and Maldonado propelled the green-and-gold with a service ace for the go ahead point to seal the deal for the third set after a final Betts kill.
In another grueling battle of a fourth set, the Golden Falcons fell short of extra points by one as the Setters sealed the deal for the overall match victory.
Sophia Watterson (Bowling Green, K.Y.) recorded 24 assists in the event while Betts and
Faith Sibert (Wyandotte, M.I.) protected the net with three blocks apiece.
Felician Volleyball will be in West Chester, P.A. Friday and Saturday for the West Chester Ram Fest as the first match of the tournament is against West Virginia Wesleyan at 4:00pm.
